Put Skipping into your workouts

Posted in Tim's Diary, Top Tips by admin on July 24th, 2007

I have had a horrible cold all weekend and still not quite over it. Its actually good timing what with all the floods. The last thing I want to do is be caught out in the rain in Hyde Park! This Friday Ariane and I are going to Italy for 10 days which should be great. The weather is 35 degrees at the moment! Hoefully when we get back Summer will finally be here. Before I go I will try to fit in a couple of workouts. One of the things I do and a great tip for all of you out there who are trying to get lean – I always train with Matrix sets and Super sets and I always put high intensity cardio exercises in between so not to waste time resting!Try a workout routine with 30 seconds fast skipping in between your squat and lunge patterns. This will keep your heart rate right upo and make your workout much more efficient. If you can’t skip, take 5 minutes before your workout every day until you can. Its great for hand eye coordination and balance. To return to the TJF Personal Training homepage click here – Personal Trainer London.PS: Please visit our new website Arcanum Thailand to view our new wellness retreat in Phuket called The Arcanum.

Whey Protein Recommendation

Posted in Nutrition Articles, Top Tips by admin on July 17th, 2007

Everybody always asks my opinion about whey protein supplements. I think that as a supplement to a healthy diet, whey can help you maintain and even gain muscle – but only if you are doing hard resistance training. Whey can also be good for vegetarians who find it hard to keep their protein levels up.Sometimes if you are working out and don’t have time to get some food post training, then a protein supplement can be useful. Also if you are looking at increasing your muscle mass they can help you reach your desired daily protein intake without feeling too full from having to constantly eat. There are many low quality products on the market full of artificial flavours and keeping to the “you are what you eat” theory its important you never skimp on food. Therefore if I was going to recommend a whey supplement it would be one with minimal artificial flavourings and of a high quality. Try the below product available online here – The TJF Recommendation.Biotics Research:Whey Protein Isolate – excellent supplemental source of protein.  Produced using a micro-chilled process, the protein is un-denatured and retains significant amounts of important immune factors including Immunoglobulin (IgG) and Lactoferin. To return to the TJF Personal Training homepage click here – Personal Trainer London.PS: Please visit our new website Arcanum Thailand to view our new wellness retreat in Phuket called The Arcanum.

So glad the weather has changed! The weekend was lovely… Today I did some running in the park followed by a spot of Yoga. Nothing too heavy today as I am cycling between clients as the weather is great! To return to the TJF Personal Training homepage click here – Personal Trainer London.PS: Please visit our new website Arcanum Thailand to view our new wellness retreat in Phuket called The Arcanum.
